Faith and Trust in Your Marriage Partner

Today is Sunday and like a good Catholic girl, I went to Mass this morning. The priest preached about what faith is and used the analogy of our marriage vows to describe faith. He said that when we say our vows, we have faith and place our trust in the other person that they will be good to us and we will live to a ripe old age together. We have hopes and dreams for the future and hopefully those will get fulfilled with each other.
But when things go wrong and and our hopes and dreams are dashed to the ground because one of the parties making the vows did not live them fully...we probably lose our trust and faith in that person. Faith is something that you can't see but can possess.
I know that the moment my ex-husband told me that he 'thought he was gay' my world certainly changed and was upside down. My faith and trust in the man I had given my everything to for the last ten years was shattered to say the least. You wonder that if he lied about that what else is not true? that he doesn't love me? that he married me as a cover? that he is done with me now that we have three children?
Faith and trust are very important in life and at the same time very fragile. Please only marry if you are able to keep your vows to 'love and cherish' all the days of your lives.
